Jim Hollander joined epa in 2003 as Chief Photographer for Israel/Palestine. He began his career in New York, then worked in Spain before joining UPI in 1980 who send him as Chief Photographer to Tel Aviv. He became Chief Photographer Israel/Palestinian Authority for Reuters in 1985.
He has covered the Middle East and Africa, conflicts in Ethiopia, Somalia, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Liberia, Iraq, Kosovo, and the Persian Gulf. He has also covered one World Cup, three Olympics, Pope John Paul II, and the "Velvet Revolution" in Czechoslovakia. He has won many photojournalism prizes and is a book author and contributor.
