The epa management would like to inform about the job opening for a

 

Photo Journalist (m/f)

based in Berlin effective November 1, 2017.

 

 

Your tasks include:

  • monitoring of news sources – be it social media, TV, newspapers, internet etc. - and closely coordinating with the Regional Chief Germany and the Editorial Management on coverage
  • photographic and videographic coverage of newsworthy events (politics, sports, cultural and business events) and features on a daily basis within Germany in coordination with the Editorial Management and the Regional Chief Germany
  • working closely within the team to monitor and help improve the overall quality of the video / picture service from a journalistic, graphic and commercial quality point of view
  • close cooperation with the different desks in Frankfurt and abroad
  • organizing stringer or hand out coverage where needed and in cooperation with the Regional Chief Germany and the Editorial Management
  • liaising with media organizations, public authorities and governmental institutions
  • networking to assure a comprehensive coverage from Germany
  • advising on upcoming events that require coverage
  • research of background information
  • story research and identifying good subjects for feature packages to be produced

 

You should have:

  • a good knowledge of current news, sports, economics and arts, culture & entertainment topics
  • excellent news sense and communication skills
  • extensive experience in international agency photography – gained abroad or in Germany
  • outstanding photographic skills
  • experience with videography and willingness to also produce video coverage
  • a profound interest in social media and web issues
  • good technical skills
  • an excellent knowledge of German and English- knowledge of other languages is considered a plus
  • team spirit
  • willingness to work in a 24/7 news environment with irregular hours and to travel frequently
  • flexibility and ability to work under time-pressure
