Prince Albert II of Monaco and Charlene Lynette Wittstock, a former Olympic swimmer from South Africa, will exchange vows 55 years after the wedding of Albert's parents, Prince Rainier III and US actress Grace Kelly. The civil wedding takes place on 01 July in the Throne Room of the Palace and the religious ceremony will be celebrated on 02 July in the Main Courtyard. The Principality will wear red and white, the colours of Grimaldi House, for the occasion.
Among the 4,300 invited guests are members of the jet-set, sports and fashion personalities, royal families and heads of state. French chef Alain Ducasse will prepare the official 450-seat dinner, to be held on the terraces of the Garnier Opera House. Monaco officials expect some 200,000 tourists to attend the celebrations, kicked off with a concert from the Eagles on 30 June.
