How do I find the most recent images?

To display all images in chronological order, leave the search field blank and click on 'new search' or the looking glass icon. The most recent images from the epa news service will be displayed on top.

How do I refresh the results automatically?

If you wish to monitor the latest images, please click on ‘Auto refresh results’ followed by ‘apply filter’ in the bottom left corner. New images will then automatically be added while your session is open.

How do I find a particular image?

general search parameters

A great part of the epa archives and services are available online through the epa webgate. Simply enter one or more keywords or an image number in the free-text search field below the navigation panel and click the 'new search' button.

You can limit your search by choosing one or several of the following options:

keyword search

AND Search

Simply leave a space between the keywords (eg. Obama Putin). The search engine then displays only images which contain all keywords entered.

In this example all images are shown that contain both keywords, Obama and Putin.

OR Search

Put an OR between the keywords (eg. Obama OR Putin). The search engine then displays all images which contain any of the entered keywords.

In this example all images are shown that contain either Obama or Putin.

AND NOT Search

Put an AND NOT between the keywords (eg. Obama AND NOT Putin). Alternatively you can also put a - (minus sign) directly in front of the word you would like to filter out (eg. Obama -Putin). The search engine then displays all images containing the first keywords minus the ones that also contain the following word.

In this example all images are shown that contain Obama minus the ones that also contain Putin.
