BUREAU CHIEF UK & IRELAND (m/f/d)

Based in: to be determined

Effect from: as soon as possible

 

The candidacy is open to professionals with profound knowledge of visual journalism, the industry and experience as team manager.

 

Your role and the challenges ahead:

  • Planning, budgeting and organizing a competitive photo, video and multimedia news coverage from the UK & Ireland in coordination with epa’s editor in chief
  • Determining the editorial content of the coverage in the UK & Ireland region in view of events of international and regional relevance
  • Ensuring a constant optimization, development and leadership of the news coverage in coordination with the editorial management
  • Scheduling of upcoming events, story research and identifying good subjects for feature packages
  • Interacting with other epa departments for the smooth running of all aspects of the operation and assignments in the context of epa’s global set up
  • Management and disciplinary guidance of the epa visual journalists in the UK & Ireland region in coordination with the editorial management
  • Responsibility for budget implementation in the assigned territory in line with epa’s expense policies
  • Responsibility for proper use and maintenance of epa’s tools and equipment distributed among the visual journalists in the assigned territory

 

Your key success factors:

  • Solid experience as a visual journalist
  • A degree in Communication, Journalism or Photography, alternatively many years of relevant professional experience
  • Excellent knowledge of the UK & Ireland press environment and their media market
  • Proven experience in planning and organizing photo, video and multimedia coverage
  • Proven experience in the management of a country or regional office in a media outlet
  • Photographic, videographic and editing skills
  • Strong communication, negotiation and organizational skills
  • Team leading and motivating skills
  • Diplomatic and at the same time also assertive attitude
  • Fluency in English and minimum another European language
  • Willingness to work irregular hours and to travel frequently

EXPERIENCED IT SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR (m/f/d)

Based in: our headquarters in Frankfurt/Main

Effect from: as soon as possible

 

Your role and the challenges ahead:

  • Strengthening the epa IT department in general tasks at epa’s Headquarters in Frankfurt
  • Working on IT related projects and assignments
  • System and network administration at the HQ and remote offices
  • Perform 24/7 on call duty outside office hours
  • Maintaining IT security and data protection
  • Maintaining training material and conducting training sessions for end-users
  • Support training of end users and maintaining an own up to date knowledge of most application on site
  • Maintenance of internal network and services in close cooperation with all relevant departments
  • Backup and Disaster Recovery using Veeam

 

Your key success factors:

  • Education as bachelor in IT or IT specialist and/or work experience for a minimum of 8 years in the IT sector
  • In depth knowledge of heterogeneous system and network environments
  • At least one certification as CCNA/MCSA or similar
  • Funded knowledge of scripting or programming languages is a plus
  • Funded knowledge in network security, VPN, routing and protocols
  • Funded Experience in the administration of an VMWARE Environment
  • Extended knowledge of Linux and MS server systems
  • Experience with monitoring software (Check_MK)
  • Experience with common database systems, SQL, MySQL
  • Experience in Google Enterprise suite
  • Experience with Cloud Providers like GCP/AWS/AZURE is a plus
  • ability to support and to train end users
  • Excellent knowledge of German and English
  • Team spirit, loyalty and ability to work under pressure
  • Capability to work independently and ability to self-organize
  • Good communication skills and service-oriented attitude
  • Willingness to travel, to work in shifts and to ensure on call duty
